In-Network

Accessing mental health benefits offered by your insurance provider can help offset costs associated with treatment.  Typically mental health benefits are similar to other physical health benefits including yearly visit limits, co-payments and deductibles.  They also require that services be deemed "medically necessary" which requires a mental health diagnosis and may be subject to prior authorization.

Out-of-Network

If you have an insurance provider that is not listed below, services may still be covered in part or in whole if you have "out-of-network mental health" benefits.  Please contact your insurance provider using the member services number listed on the back of your health insurance card for more information on what services you may be eligible for.

Employee Assistance Programs

Many employers offer employee assistance program (EAP) benefits which are a voluntary, work-based intervention program designed to assist employees in coping with or resolving personal and work-related stressors that could potentially affect that employee's performance or ability to work.  They often include a limited number or short term therapeutic counseling option at no cost to you.  Please contact your employer HR department to inquire about this benefit.

Sliding Scale

It is very important to me that mental health services be accessible to all regardless of socioeconomic status or financial access.  If you are facing financial hardship, please ask me for more information about my sliding scale option.

Community Resources

If none of these options sound like they would be a good fit for you, there are some other community resources in the Portland area that you can look into:
- Portland State Community Counseling Clinic ($15 per session)
- William Temple House ($0-$40 per session)
- Wise Counsel & Comfort ($40 capped fee per session with select clinicians)

No Surprises Act

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to provide a good faith estimate of expected charges for items and services to individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services.
